The Round-about Orchard: A tiny Over the Garden Wall game
***Now with downloadable pdf walkthrough! The download isn't the game -- That's still browser only ***
The Round-about Orchard is a super tiny fan project (about 15 minutes of play time!) that reunites some Over the Garden Wall folks (creator Patrick McHale, background artist Levon Jihanian, musicians The Blasting Company, and Elijah Wood is back as Wirt!) to create this nugget of point-and-click adventure gaming!
Julia Minamata (the developer of The Crimson Diamond, available on Steam, GOG, & itch.io) did the writing and game parts, and Ilya Schwarz (Computechnosoft) animated it.
This game was designed to be played in fifteen minutes and consists of two backgrounds. Hope you enjoy this short jaunt back into The Unknown!
This game was commissioned by Requiem Cafe in Anaheim, California for their Over the Garden Wall Hallowe'en 2025 fan event.

What a lovely little game - it does so much with two locations and a couple of characters. The decorative frames were delightful though I gotta admit I did spend some good clicking seeing if I could take the key from the frame haha. I figured Greg would be the kind of person who'd be able to get a key from a frame just because he'd decided that's how the world worked... but not this time.
So perfectly tuned to the characters!
This was so cute!!! It feels like an episode of the show!
That ending did spook me a bit. Also, if Wirt was in another story, things would be very different lol.
This is such a nice game! Really nice art and so well placed, reminds me of homemade tapestry from the past. I really liked the future tree concept and how things got better in the future by doing good things in the present. It's such a good metaphor too!
Thank you for making this game!
This is an awesome adventure!! Well done
The trail foretells the tree’s tomorrow, it seems. Also, I hate when elephants step on my apple seeds.
Maybe they'll grow into apple sauce now.
Indeed. This kind of makes me want to finish the game I was making with AGS... Alas, I got stuck on the part my character collects the poison berries.

This is so cute!!
Thank you for creating such a charming game! It captures the warmth and atmosphere of the show perfectly. I enjoyed it so much!
That was a delight! Very well done! You captured the short little stories that the show did beautifully!
Interesting short game. I love it.
O jogo parece ser ótimo, você tem planos para uma versão português brasileiro?
This is amazing! Thank you for this awesome game👏
It looks great
the game is fun
hi
Awesome game!! Got a little confused at some parts but the atmosphere was nice to wander around in. Thanks for making such a cool game :)
What a blast to play! Point and click feels very fitting for OTGW. Greg's dialogue was very fun to read, I looked and talked at everything (and splashed in the puddle many times).
I noticed that when I lowered the music volume slightly, it caused the music to cut completely whenever a voice clip played. Though once I reset the settings to default, it fixed itself.
Thanks for making this!
Yeah, point and click does feel very fitting for OTGW! I think it's because, by their nature, point and click games are rooted in exploration, examining everything from the characters to the setting. And there are still some things you can miss, just because they're not integral to completing the game, but the developer decided to include them for fun.
In the show, even though we explore some of the Unknown through Greg and Wirt's journey, you still get the sense that there are still many more secrets we have yet to see.
Interview that Julia did with Ron's Computer Videos about the Round-about Orchard (and her own game, the Crimson Diamond):
The Round about Orchard
i love this, more with the fact the i watched Over The Garden Wall and it was beariful, the story and everthing, you did and amazing work, all the people who worked on this deserve to be recognized ^^
I think you should make it more obvious that one's the future orchard, I didn't make that connection until I looked at the walkthrough.
I posted a walkthrough on the game page if anyone needs help finishing the game!
Great stuff! I really liked how many unique bits of interaction dialogue there was with the items and environment! The payoff at the end was really fun and felt very in line with show!
Thank you! I love the show, I'm happy that the game feels true to the spirit of it.
This is a cute, little game. The music gets repetitive after a while, but it sounds lovely. I couldn't find the key that opens the padlock, and I was missing something hard to dig up the ground with. What game engine did you use to make this game?
Thank you! I used Adventure Game Studio to make the game. I've added a pdf walkthrough to the game page, if you're still stuck hopefully this will help!
Thank you. I managed to finish it, finally. I liked everything about it. Have you checked my latest game Wingin' it! by any chance? Let me know what you think of it, and if you sub, you'll be notified whenever I upload a project.
the environmental storytelling is just AUGHHHH <3, i love how you never say it outright so it's up to the player to realize for themselves (if the whole forest loop thing isn't actually intentional i probably sound insane rn lolz)
Thanks so much! And yes, you are 100% correct about the loop! :D
The Game was so cute and so much fun.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed!
Such a cute game big fan of otgw so the vibes r perfect unfortunately stuck on how to open the shed
Spoiler Alert!
Explore around the fallen down tree a bit more. Use your hand to search under the branch and poke around a little bit, and you should be able to find the key ^^
Nice little gem, Julia
Thanks so much!
This was lovely! It's so nice seeing how many people from the show were involved with this too
Thanks! Yes, that made the project even more special. The genuine affection the show folks continue to have for it, and the eagerness with which they collaborated was a dream come true.
Delightful little game. I'm not familiar with the show, but the writing for the boy with the teapot hat was adorable (as were his gasps).
Thank you! It's really wonderful that someone with no experience with the show can still enjoy the writing and characters! That means a lot to me. :)
a charming and adorable adventure that captures the voice of the show to a tee! My 4yo and I loved it.
Aww, thanks! I really wanted to give people the feeling of returning to The Unknown. And I'm so happy your 4yo enjoyed it too!
:D Sweet game! Did Elijah Wood really do the voice job? :O
Yes, he did! I'm so fortunate that he was so generous with his time.
Wow, incredible!
Really cool! very monkey island feel :D and gorgeous backgrounds
Thanks so much!
